Metal Stair Spindles FAQs
Metal is extremely durable and strong making it an ideal choice for spindles. It works beautifully with matching metal handrails and base rails or contrasting wood rails. Metal stair spindles are also incredibly low maintenance making them a sensible choice for busy family homes.
If you currently have wooden spindles, you might be wondering if you can simply swap them for metal spindles. The good news is that this is simple to do and it’s a great way to update your hallway without replacing the entire staircase. Wrought iron stair spindles look stunning paired with wooden rails to create a welcoming space.
You can work out how many metal spindles you require by multiplying the number of steps or treads your staircase has by two. You’ll then need to subtract two from your total because you’ll only require one spindle for the top and bottom sections of your staircase because of the newel posts.
We’ve also created a simple spindle spacing calculator, so you don’t even have to do the calculations yourself.
