One of our most popular choices for updating your staircase, landing, or hallway is our huge range of oak stair handrails. The properties of our premium oak handrails seamlessly complement any living space and its basic functionalities ensure it lasts for a lifetime.
We have several oak handrail profiles available, from a traditional style that can be used with stair spindles, to modern glass-grooved handrails that can be used with glass panels. We also have ungrooved oak handrails for stairs that require wall mounting with the use of brackets, or used in a more traditional format with glass panels secured with glass panel brackets.
Most of our oak handrails come un-finished, so we would recommend using a suitable timber paint, varnish or wax. This will enhance your wooden handrail and offer a layer of protection for years to come.

Oak Handrails FAQs
Because oak is a hardwood, it’s extremely durable, strong, and resistant to scratches and dents. Oak handrails could be the correct choice for you if you’re looking for a long lasting wood to invest in a property that you’ll be living in for years to come. This way, you can rest assured that your staircase wont get damaged and worn out easily over time. This can be particularly important if you have small children that might spill drinks or drop items onto the wood, or a pet that might scratch the wood with their claws.
While in the short-term, a lightweight wood like pine could be a cheaper option, when considering oak’s durability and resistance to dent or scratches, it could become the more cost-effective option over a long period of time.
Because oak stair handrails come unfinished, you’re able to choose whether you want to add a painted, varnished, or waxed finish. You should polish the wood as often as possible to maintain a good glossy coating. To do this, first dust the handrails with a microfiber cloth to remove loose dirt, and then polish using a soft, non-abrasive cloth and hardwax oil to keep the rich colour and shine.
Whilst oak handrails are more expensive than other materials on the market, they should certainly be seen as an investment. In particular, if you have just bought a home and want to improve the look and feel of it for years to come, oak is the ideal choice. By investing in a durable wood such as oak, you can rest assured that your staircase won’t get damaged easily. Oak is also known for its classic look. It’s distinctive tiger-stripe grain makes oak handrails a great, eye-catching addition to the home.
If you choose an oak handrail, there are plenty of options available when it comes to designs, including:
• Oak Glass Grooved Handrail - Perfect for homes that want to add a little flourish to the classic look of an oak handrail.
• Oak Ungrooved Cottage Loaf Handrail - More traditional and unfinished which allows you to put your own stamp on it.
• Axxys Oak Handrail - Ideal for modern or minimalist homes as it comes pre-finished.
