Handrail End Caps FAQs
The first thing you need to consider is the material and tone of your handrail, the brackets you’re chosen, and the wall it runs along. This is to ensure that it all blends together well and avoids any colour clashes.
A cohesive colour scheme can create a more traditional, homely look. Woods such as oak or pine that are medium to warm in tone are best paired with luxury brass that creates an elegant look. Dramatic contrasts of colour can be effective to make your staircase stand out in a modern style, such as matching dark wood with bright reflective chrome.
For a paler wood, a simple black end cap can create a pleasing style. Materials that are cooler in tone can also be used to create a calming oasis in the home, or a clean-cut office setting.
After choosing your material for your end caps, there are plenty of options available for the style and finish of your end caps. More detailed end caps create a sense of opulence through their more complicated appearance, particularly in a brass material. Our range of handrail end cap designs include:
•Petal end caps
•Medium and slim end caps
•HR end caps
•Octagonal end caps
A variety of finishes are then available for most of our metal options. These include polished, brushed, and antique options:
•Antique provides a beautiful golden sheen over the metal, which reduces the reflectivity of the metal and matches well with darker shades of wood.
•Brushed metals such as chrome or nickel maintain a high level of shine but have a softly reflective finish.
•Polished end caps are the brightest and most reflective option, and pair well with any wooden handrails, either to create contrast against dark wood or accent a paler wood.
When trimming down the end of your handrail you can cut the end flat. Some end caps for handrails are angular and might look like they want a curved end of the handrail to fit comfortably. This isn’t necessary and your stair rail end caps will fit snugly with a flat surface. This will also make it easier to cut the handrail without worrying about the fit.
Our handrail end caps come in two sizes, 45mm handrail end caps and 54mm handrail end caps. You’ll need to make sure that you choose the diameter that matches up with the diameter of your handrail. You’ll also need to check that the end cap will fit your chosen style of handrail. For example, if you’ve chosen a mopstick handrail, you’ll need to choose a mopstick end cap in the same diameter.
